SAERA Come & Try Endurance Day

602 Gerschwitz Road, Sedan
Entries close 6 May 2026 at 10:00pm
A relaxed, educational and welcoming day for new riders, returning members or those with young horses they want to bring out for the experience!
The course will consist of dirt roads with some rocky sections. A flat course for majority of the time with some small undulations. A very achievable track for all!
11km and 16km distances available starting at around 10am.
Things to know/what to bring
- BYO chair
- Buckets for horse water (some of your own water if your horse is picky)
- People drinking water
- All required feed/hay for your horse
- Yard (optional) - electric or panels - panels must be secured to the ground with a star dropper
- Dogs on leads
- Stethoscope & thermometer
- At official endurance events all horses require a 4 day temperature log - 3 days prior to event + day of event prior to travel - give it a go for the come and try to practice for the real thing - see Horse Health Declaration form attached
ITINERARY
7:30am - Gates Open
9am - Talks on all things endurance including but not limited to:
- Administration and entries- how rides work and what to know
- Vetting endurance horses and vet ring procedure
- Tack and saddlery
- Rules, Welfare & Safety (Chief Steward talk)
- Course introduction, track markers, ride etiquette and general safety on course
10am RIDE START
- 11km or 16km marked course options
- Experienced riders available to provide mentoring and support
- Expected completion time 2 hours (12pm)
- Post ride strapping assistance and training
- Mock vetting (heart rate and trort up)
- Followed by a ride debreif
Post Ride Sausage Sizzle
Please bring some spare change and enjoy a good old aussie sausage post ride to refuel while you chat and maybe learn a bit more!
